What is AFA?
AFA ( Action Figure Authority) is a division of C.G.A ( Collectible Grading Authority), located in GA, USA .
AFA are the World’s most seriously recognized and reputable third party grading company, for collectible action figures.
Once your figures have been submitted to AFA, they go through a process of strict grading (and/or authentication if necessary). Carded Figures are checked for signs of tampering, ink touch-ups, creasing, tears and any other flaws. Loose Figures are checked for discoloration, paint loss, chips, repainting etc.
Figures are then assigned a grade, and encased in an acrylic case.
Most serious collectors will be happy with a grade of AFA 85 (case-fresh). This is generally the condition expected from a figure that has just been taken out of a factory case and is therefore in great shape, with no card creases or bubble dings. Many collectors are quite happy with AFA 75 to 80 grades. These have minor flaws but are still in great condition.
You can be sure that an action figure graded highly by AFA will be widely recognized as a ‘quality’ piece in the Worldwide Collectors Market. Just do an Ebay search to see just how much some of these little guys fetch!
